Trätälja history

Trätälja is named after the famous Viking leader, Olaf Trätälja (Olof the Carpenter) who lived in Sweden during the 9th Century.

The Vikings were tradesmen and traveled throughout Europe before eventually reaching Arabian Gulf via the Russian river system and the Caspian Sea.

These travels are proven by findings of the typical Viking alphabet 'Runor' in many places all along the Russian river flatlands and many places around the Black and Caspian seas.

These 'Runor' looked much like the letters TRÄTÄLJA uses in the logo, and they were particularly well suited for carving into wood. Thus, we feel the name TRÄTÄLJA suits us well in the light of our international business activities.

TRÄTÄLJA was founded as a limited company under its present name in 1906. The first sawmill was established in 1915.

TRÄTÄLJA has been exporting timber to Middle Eastern and North African markets for more than 35 years. As the first company to export Swedish timber to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we take pride in our continuous ability to provide clients with the first rate service and high quality products.
